The party arrive at Nibelheim, on the way they talked about how Nibelheim is Sephiroth’s hometown and that his mothers name is Jenova. Zack and Sephiroth make their way into the inn that they will be staying at tonight. Before you enter a young girl approaches them. Its Tifa, in a snazzy Cowgirl outfit, she talks wants to talk to Zack about Soldier.

Zack heads up into the inn, following Sephiroth. The clerk tells you your room is upstairs. Zack heads to the top floor and finds Sephiroth staring out the window, he feels as if he has been here before.

If you talk to the boy just outside the inn at the water tower, you will get the very handy phoenix materia.

The two of you decide to rest up for the mission tomorrow. The next day the two of you head over to ShinRa Mansion to meet their guide to the mako reactor – Tifa. There is a photographer there who takes a number of photos of the party heading to the reactor. As you arrive at the reactor Cloud stops Tifa from entering the reactor, at this point in time she doesn’t know that it is him. Zack and Sephiroth continue into the reactor and start their investigation, Sephiroth tells Zack to have a look in one of the pods, there is a horrible Jenova monster inside. Sephiroth questions himself, was he born of the reactor? He isn’t sure, in his frustration he pushes Zack away. Zack tries to help Sephiroth, but before he can get through to him Genesis buts in. Genesis tells him that the two of them are monsters! Genesis throws a couple of Fira’s at Zack and Sephiroth, Sephiroth easily deflects it, but Zack is worse off, and is knocked to the floor. Genesis watches Sephiroth walk way and follows him after him while reading a few more lines from Loveless. Sephiroth doesn’t care about what he is saying and leaves with Genesis soon after.

Zack chases after the two of them, but by the time he gets outside they are gone, and only the mountains monsters are left. The monsters have seriously injured the ShinRa Soldiers and Zack has no choice but to fight his way back to the village. You have to escort Tifa and Cloud back to town defending them along the way. After battling the way back to the inn, Zack gets the two of them back to the village, at this point in time Cloud has been hurt, so Zack stays with him while Tifa finds Sephiroth.

After talking for a while, Zack and Cloud go to sleep. When the two of them wake up, Zack goes down to the lobby. Tifa comes rushing in with some important news. It seems Sephiroth has gone to the ShinRa mansion. As Zack walks out of the Inn he receives a phone call from Aerith. Zack makes a promise to see her as soon as he can, he hangs up and continues to the ShinRa mansion. Deep under the mansion Zack finds the room Sephiroth has hidden away in. Sephiroth is consumed reading about the Jenova projects. He ends up questioning himself more and more. Zack decides it is best to leave him and head back to town.

A week later, Zack is standing outside the inn with the whole village in flames. He finds Cloud badly beaten on the floor, by the stairs is Sephiroth. He says nothing and heads towards the mako reactor.


Zack chases after Sephiroth to the mako reactor. You make your way up the mountain, to the reactor, when you get inside you find Tifa on the floor. She turns away from him in disgust. Zack heads up to the Jenova chamber.

“Ha ha ha. Mother those people have showed up again. With mother’s strength and knowledge she should have been this planet’s ruler. But those people – those people who take everything. The planet was taken from mother wasn’t it? But, don’t be sad anymore mother. Lets go together – finally me meet mother –“ Sephiroth says descending into madness.

Zack defends Sephiroth’s blade and is blasted to the lower levels of the reactor by sheer strength. Zack and Sephiroth continue their fight.

This boss battle is against Sephiroth, he is very fast. Watch out for his sword and the “Angel without a heart”.

The two of you continue the fight and Zack can barely fend off Sephiroths attacks.

You enter combat again, for this last part of the fight with Sephiroth, if you are pushed off the edge you will die so keep up the attacks to keep you away from the edge.

Zack gets beaten quite severely by Sephiroth and his sword is knocked from his hands. Zack gets thrown back into the pod room. With Zack down for the count, the Buster Sword sits precariously in the doorway. At this moment Cloud takes up Zacks sword and stabs Sephiroth in the back while he is consumed by Jenova’s presence. Sephiroth is hurt quite badly and Cloud runs back down to Tifa’s aid. A little whole later Sephiroth emerges from Jenova’s room and Cloud charges at him with the Buster Sword, but cant manage to land a second blow. Cloud is skewered by the Masamune, and is held over the mako pits. With the rage burning inside him Cloud finds the strength to overpower Sephiroth and throw him into the Reactor mako pits. Both Zack and Cloud loose their mind.


The two hero’s pass out after the exhausting fight. Sometime later Zack in his half awake state finds himself surrounded by other ShinRa soldiers with Hojo. He notices that Hojo is using Cloud as a new experiment Guinea pig.
